The finalists for the 3D category of the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards were announced Feb. 28, 2013. Selected by the judges from the World Photography Organisation, the three finalists are:
- Michele Abramo Puricelli (aka Michael Abraham), Italy
- Matjaž Tančič, Slovenia
- Nick Saglimbeni, USA, who won the 3D Photographer of the Year title in 2012, the award's inaugural year
With the recent technical advances in the photographic industry there has been a revival in 3D photography and the artform has emerged as one of the strongest innovations in the industry today. The three finalists represent some of the world's best photographers working in 3D.

2013 Sony World Photography Awards Student Focus
Finalists Revealed
19 February: The World Photography Organisation (WPO) today reveals the ten finalists of the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards Student Focus competition. The date also coincides with the release of a white paper on the future of photography education by WPO. Both events mark WPO's on-going commitment to support the emerging photographer and to discover the world's finest new photography talent.
Over 230 universities entered this year's Student Focus, which has established itself as the globe's leading student photography programme and competition and involves over 20,000 students. Photographers were asked to enter a single image to capture the spirit of celebration in their country.

What is the future of photography education?
The World Photography Organisation and Sony publish white paper
19 February: On the same day that the ten finalists of the Student Focus competition are announced, the World Photography Organisation, in association with Sony, publish a thought-provoking white paper on the future of photography education.
Born out of discussion with 19 of Europe's leading photography professors alongside Virginia Morrison, Executive Director of Society for Photography Education, and photographer Tom Ang, the aim of the white paper is to create a global dialogue on photographic teaching.
Both WPO and Sony are committed to supporting emerging photographic talent and the white paper was created to benefit institutions, educators and students.
