The United States Copyright Office announced a 57% increase in the standard online registration fee, from $35 to $55, effective May 1, 2014. See the entire schedule in the Federal Register (pdf)

The big news for artists is that a district court judge in California hinted that online providers who strip metadata from uploaded images might be in jeopardy of losing their "safe harbor" status under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act.
