The Competition

TravelPhotographerOfTheYear2011The premier international travel photography awards

TPOTY is the photo contest that's run by photographers for photographers. It's open to photographers from all countries; amateur or professional, beginner or expert, young or old, we have categories to suit you all! And it's judged by leading photography experts and offers fantastic prizes from our very supportive sponsors, including travel adventures, photographic equipment and photography tuition.

The power of TPOTY working for photographers

But it's not just about prizes – TPOTY is about getting amazing international exposure for your work. Past winners have seen their image sales soar along with interest in their photography. The best images feature in the beautiful TPOTY 'Journey' portfolio books as well as our exhibitions.

We're often approached by picture buyers wanting to source images and our galleries are amongst this site's most visited pages on the whole Travel Photographer of the Year website. For details about how one young entrant to TPOTY secured, in addition to her prize, a five figure sum from a London Advertising agency for the rights to use her image in an international advertising campaign read the TPOTY blog.

Who can enter?

Anyone! Wherever you live in the world, whether you're an amateur or professional photographer, and whatever age you are, you can enter TPOTY. This year's competition opens for entries from the 29th of March 2012.

On the competition website click on the "competition" tab on the top menu bar to check out the submission categories and prizes. There's something for everyone!

Here to help

TPOTY has helped many travel photographers - not just the winners - to raise their profile, sell their work, get commissions or launch photographic careers. And they never forget that they are your images, which is why TPOTY features on Artists' Bill of Rights approved list list of competitions.

There are also two new categories; the Condé Nast Traveller award and HD Video category, Travel Shorts.

Prizes:

There are a wide range of exciting prizes on offer for each of the above categories including cash up to £5,000, a 9 day safari trip to Kenya, a pro digital camera, a paid commission from Condé Nast Traveller magazine and much much more.
