The sixth annual International Garden Photographer of the Year(IGPOTY) competition is now open until November 30th 2012. There are also three Photo Projects seasonal competitions, they are based on specific themes.
Deadlines for these are as follows:
- Monochrome: 1 March - 31 March
- Macro Art: 1 April - 31 May
- Micro Creatures: 1 June - 31 July
Uniquely among major photographic competitions, all entrants can receive professional feedback on their entries - after the judging of the competition is completed and on request.

The competition is open to everyone, amateurs and professionals alike. Entries are welcome from any country in the world. There are no restrictions on the type of camera you use, or the techniques you use to produce your final image.
The Prizes
SINGLE IMAGE (International Garden Photographer of the Year): £5000
PORTFOLIO: ROYAL PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY GOLD MEDAL PLUS £2000 CASH.
There are also £500 prizes for the Best in Category in each of the nine categories and in each of the three Photo Projects plus many other awards such as the Young Photographer of the Year.
This year we will again place the emphasis not only on the great cash prizes we have on offer, but ways in which you can use your competition entry to improve your photography. In addition to the cash and equipment prizes, we are offering everyone who enters the chance to have a personal critique of your entry.
In addition, Everybody who has entered the sixth annual IGPOTY competition will be eligible to receive personal feedback on entries by email to anyone on request, after the winners have been announced publicly. Simply email with your request to . Feedback will be sent by August 1 2013.

This competition meets all the standards set out in
the Bill of Rights For Artists
Competitions which meet all the standards set out in the Bill of Rights For Artists do not do any of the following -
- claim copyright
- claim exclusive use
- seek waiving of moral rights
- fail to give a credit for all free usage
- add, alter, or remove metadata from submissions
- seek usage rights other than for promoting the contest and no other purpose. Note that a book, posters, cards, or a calendar are seen as legitimate ways of promoting the contest and defraying costs
- seek free usage rights in excess of 3 years
- use the submissions commercially without the entrant's agreement, and such commercial usage is to be subject to a freely negotiated license independently of the competition.
- make it a condition of winning that an entrant must sign a commercial usage agreement
- fail to publish all documents on the competition website that an entrant may have to sign
- fail to name the judges for this or last year's competition
- fail to explicitly state all the organisations who will acquire rights to the submissions
- set a closing date more than 18 months after the contest launch date
- fail to make clear statements of rights claimed and how submissions are used.
