Scottish Nature Photography Awards 2011
The Scottish Nature Photography Awards Photographic Competition was launched in 2010 to provide a platform to celebrate Scotland as a key destination for nature photographers and to acknowledge the excellence of the photographic work that is undertaken here through the award of the title of "Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year". Now in its second year, the competition invites entries of images taken in Scotland by professional, semi-professional or amateur photographers.
Our 2011 Photographic Competition will again seek to find the "Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year" through the main categories of:
Scottish Wildlife
Scottish Landscape
Scottish Botanical
Natural Abstract
Environmental
The Scottish Nature Photography Awards aims to encourage and promote emerging talent. To that end, this year we are inviting entries for:
"Student Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year" - open to full-time or part-time students studying a Photography element as part of their further or higher education course.
"Junior Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year" - open to under-18s.
Entries are open from 30th April 2011 to 30 November 2011.
There are discounted "Early Bird" entry fees available until the end of May 2011.

This competition meets all the standards set out in
the Bill of Rights For Artists
Competitions which meet all the standards set out in the Bill of Rights For Artists do not do any of the following -
- claim copyright
- claim exclusive use
- seek waiving of moral rights
- fail to give a credit for all free usage
- add, alter, or remove metadata from submissions
- seek usage rights other than for promoting the contest and no other purpose. Note that a book, posters, cards, or a calendar are seen as legitimate ways of promoting the contest and defraying costs
- seek free usage rights in excess of 3 years
- use the submissions commercially without the entrant's agreement, and such commercial usage is to be subject to a freely negotiated license independently of the competition.
- make it a condition of winning that an entrant must sign a commercial usage agreement
- fail to publish all documents on the competition website that an entrant may have to sign
- fail to name the judges for this or last year's competition
- fail to explicitly state all the organisations who will acquire rights to the submissions
- set a closing date more than 18 months after the contest launch date
- fail to make clear statements of rights claimed and how submissions are used.
