Welcome to the 3rd DigitalBasics Free Photography Contest sponsored by X-Rite Photo.
This Spring, I'd love you to enter just one photograph that you feel encapsulates the theme Beginnings.
This contest should leave you limited only by your imagination!
Look closely at the world around you and opportunities to make great photographs for this contest will soon present themselves...
The contest will from run from 15th February, closing at Midnight BST on Sunday 15th April.
As soon as possible after the closing date, I will release a shortlist of 25 images right here on this site.
At this point, The People's Vote will take place and visitors can vote for their favourite shortlisted images.
The Overall Winner will be decided on 30th April by my first ever guest judge, Giles Huxley-Parlour director of London's Chris Beetles Fine Photographs gallery and nurturing his brand new project Photo Democracy.
Entering this free photography contest is a great way to have your work brought to the attention of Giles, whose decision will be announced in my free monthly newsletter, DigitalBasics, published on 1st May 2012.
So, make sure you subscribe to be among the first to learn of the winning entry!

X-Rite are generously offering two fantastic prizes to the winners of the Autumn Contest:
The Overall Winner will receive a new X-Rite ColorMunki Display screen calibrator worth £139!
Your computer screen is your only window through which to view your digital photographs.
As X-Rite describe on their site :
"It’s time to stop guessing and start knowing that the color on your monitor or projector is accurate."

An X-Rite ColorChecker Passport worth £82 will be awarded to the winner of The People's Vote!
Enabling straight forward camera profiling, many top-flight professionals find the ColorChecker Passport to be an invaluable addition to their kit.
"The ColorChecker Passport allows you to quickly and easily capture accurate color, instantly enhance portraits and landscapes, and maintain color control and consistency from capture to edit."
The closing date for the latest competition is 15th April 2012 and for further information please visit the competition website.
